Game Day Turkey Chili with Beer

For all you football fans out there, this was my first attempt at making chili and BOY was it EASY!  I looked up several winning recipes before simplifying the ingredients and creating my own. You are in for really big treat so for all you non-cook’s out there, this is SPECTACULAR!!!  And is enough to serve friends or have some tasty leftovers for yourself.

What you need:

  • 1 packet McCormick’s Chili Seasoning 🙂
  • 1 – 1.5 lb Ground Turkey Meat
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes 14.5 oz
  • 1 can diced tomatoes with green chili’s 10 oz
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 3 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1/2 can or bottle of your favorite lime beer 😉

Additional Ecoutrements for serving:

Tortilla Chips, Shredded Mexican Cheddar, Sour Cream

*I made mine without the kidney beans but you are welcome to add a can (undrained)

In a skillet drizzle about a tblspn. olive oil

Add in your ground turkey and begin to brown. When the turkey is halfway cooked add in your chopped onion and garlic. Cook for a few more minutes then add half the packet of the McCormick’s Chili seasoning packet. Stir with the meat and onions. Next is the fun part, add in 1/2 a bottle of lime flavored beer. Let it reduce down to half for about 3-5 minutes.

Next add in your cans of stewed and diced tomatoes (undrained). If you are using kidney beans, throw them in too. Use the remaining packet of seasoning and stir together.

(Note: Since I didn’t use the kidney beans I used about 3/4 of the seasoning packet.

Heat on low with a layer of foil over top and in another 20 minutes, VOILA you have a spectacular game day meal 🙂 Top with some cheese and perhaps a dollop of sour cream…

This was a hit in my home. Enjoy the Game!!
