Traditional Egg Breakfast – The Bird’s Nest…

This is a fantastic recipe for any morning!  I love it because it saves you the hassle of making the toast and the egg separately. The egg is actually cooked inside the bread – Genius!

It’s also great when you are entertaining because you don’t need to be a short order cook whipping up 3 types of eggs while praying you don’t burn the toast. With the bird’s nest all you have to do is add on 2 slabs of bacon and breakfast is served 🙂

Bird’s Nest

Toast

Eggs

Butter

Onion Powder

Salt & Pepper

In a fry pan add a tablespoon of butter. Now while that is heating, with your fingers tear out a hole in the middle of your bread slice. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Once the butter is melted add in your slices of bread.

Next, your going to crack an egg directly into the hole creating the nest.

Now for my secret ingredients. Sprinkle over the egg some onion powder and a pinch or two of salt.

Cook for about 2-3 minutes – than with a spatula flip. Careful not to break the egg yoke – we need that for dipping later 😉 Let the egg sit for another minute.

Grind some fresh pepper over the egg and serve.

I learned this recipe from my mom as a little girl and I have made it for many of my friends and family who to this day say it was one of their favorite breakfasts. The best part is that you will always have enough bread to soak up your yolk. 🙂

I hope you enjoy – Happy Holidays!
