Happy Holidays 🙂
Today we are making the ever so famous candied yams. Now who doesn’t love these? I just started making these last year and they are so EASY. I’m sure a lot of you have spotted the yams in a can in the grocery store, maybe even attempted to try them, but forget those – we are making ours yams fresh today. 🙂 This recipe only calls for 2 potatoes so a little goes along way! The pumpkin pie seasoning adds an extra kick of spices, heavy cream adds moisture, and well the rest is pretty basic. Feel free to change up the ratio’s and make this recipe your own.
Candied Yams (servings 3-4) Time: 30 min. Temp: 350 degrees
(2) sweet potatoes
pumpkin pie seasoning
2 tablespoons of butter
1/8 – 1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons of heavy cream
Boil a pot of water. Peel and slice the yams into thin discs. Drop into the hot water for about 5-7 minutes or until fork tender. Remove and drain. Create a layer of the cooked yams in a casserole dish. Sprinkle a little salt and the pumpkin pie seasoning. I usually eyeball my recipes so do what feels comfortable. Drizzle the heavy cream over top. Dollop the butter in small pieces. Evenly add the brown sugar with your hands. That was easy 🙂
Top with a layer of marshmallows and pop into a 350 degree pre-heated oven for 10-12 minutes until the marshmallows are lightly browned.
Enjoy your creamy and oh so sweet candied yams.
