Holiday Menu Part 2 – Green Bean Casserole w/Bacon and Cheddar

My mom used to make this recipe with the canned string beans, but not this one – we are using fresh! I wanted to revamp this classic dish with bacon and cheddar! I mean everything’s better with bacon 😉

Amy’s Green Bean Casserole – Time: 30 min.

5 pieces of maple cured bacon – finely chopped

1/4 cup of shredded cheddar

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell’s® Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup

1/2 cup milk

1 teaspoon soy sauce

Dash ground black pepper

3-4vcups cooked cut green beans

freshly grated nutmeg

1 1/3 cups French’s® French Fried Onions

In a fry pan cook your bacon bits. Drain any drippings and place on a plate lined with paper towels. Reserve some bacon to top during the last 5 min. cooking. Cut off the tips of your string beans and throw in a bowl. Pour in the soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, bacon, cheese, and 2/3 cup onions. Next freshly grate some nutmeg for a holiday touch. I’m obsessed with nutmeg. Buy some whole cloves and grate in your dishes. 😉

Spread into a casserole dish. Bake at 350°F. for 25 minutes or until the bean mixture is hot and bubbling.  Stir the bean mixture.  Sprinkle with the remaining onions and reserved bacon.

Bake for 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.
