Today I am making hoison chicken wings served with sauteed pears in a little brown sugar and butter. Super Bowl is just around the corner so let’s try something new this year. 🙂
Now this wouldn’t be an Amy dish without a drizzle of a special sauce – It’s a cilantro lime yogurt sauce.
Hoison Chicken Wings (1.5 lbs. wings)
1/2 cup hoison sauce (in a jar)
1/4 cup honey
1/2 tspn. rice vinegar
3 teaspoons sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon chili garlic sauce
3 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup finely chopped cilantro
1 lime (squeezed)
Combine the above ingredients in a bowl. Add the chicken wings and the marinade into a large ziplock bag. Close and massage the marinade into the wings by moving them around. Let marinade for 1-4 hours.
In a hot skillet on med. high heat add in a couple tablespoons of olive oil. Using tongs place in the chicken wings. You want them to caramelize on the outside. Turn over after 5-6 min. Turn the heat down to medium and wait for the other side to brown.
Take your pan and place in the oven at 400 degrees for another 12 min. with a piece of aluminum foil overtop. If you are using a skillet with a plastic handle, cover it in tin foil. Keep an eye on the wings until they look crispy and done.
2 pears (sliced longways)
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon butter
In a fry pan heat up the butter and brown sugar until bubbly. Combine. Add in your sliced pears, turning until lightly golden brown and tender.
Cilantro Lime Yogurt Sauce
3/4 cup of yogurt
1/8 cup chopped cilantro
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lime juice
1/2 teaspoon garlic
Mix in a small food processor. Plate your dish and drizzle on the yogurt sauce.
Serve with your favorite beer. 😉
