Star Meatballs with Marinara and Whole Wheat Spaghetti…

Today I am making some fully loaded meatballs with peppers, onions, bread and oregano…I like my meatballs full of flavor and moist, so if you want a star of a meatball this is your recipe.

Meatballs are a great way to stretch a dollar on a budget. To make this dish more healthy serve with whole wheat spaghetti…you won’t know the difference.

Let’s begin!

Amy’s Meatballs

  • 1 egg
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1/4 cup onion minced
  • 1 red pepper minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • pepper
  • 1 piece of bread ( I used flatbread)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • vegetable oil frying
  • 1 Jar basil marinara sauce (TJ’s)
  • Whole wheat spaghetti

In a bowl combine all of the ingredients with your hands. (The fun part.) Roll into meat balls. In a pan heat up a thin layer of vegetable oil.

Once you can smell the oil, place them in one-by-one, careful not to overcrowd the pan.

After a few minutes turn over rotating on each side, until the meatballs are firm to touch. If the oil starts to burn turn down the heat.

Spoon onto paper towels and work in batches…

In a sauce pan heat up a jar of marinara sauce. Add 2 teaspoons of sugar to the sauce. Our secret… 😉

Drop the meatballs into the sauce and cover for 10 minutes on medium low.

In the meantime, cook up some spaghetti. Serve the spaghetti on individual plates and spoon the meatballs and sauce over top.

Mangia Mangia,

♥ Miss Amy
