The Classic 5 Minute Egg…

It doesn’t get any more old-fashioned and simple than a soft-boiled egg. I used to think it was a 3 minute egg growing up, but apparently it’s changed. :/

My mom used to make these when we weren’t feeling so well. It was such a nice surprise when she would whip out this orange egg holder and these special cutters that cut the top off perfectly. I actually don’t have either of those fancy tools, but I found out a spoon and some buttered toast will work just fine. 😉

The 5 minute egg:

Boil a pot of water, add the egg, and set a timer for 5 minutes. Drain the egg and let cool for a minute or so. Next, crack the egg on a plate. Peel back half of the shell with your fingers. Take a spoon and scoop it out over a buttered slice of toast.

Season with some salt and fresh cracked pepper. It comes out perfect every time and it’s simply delicious!

If you want to take it one step further here is a recipe for a Europane Egg Salad.
