You are never going to believe how delicious this is. This recipe beats the smoked caramel latte from Starbucks ~ Hand’s Down! The trick is in the caramels. The brand I used was Lancaster which you can buy just about anywhere and they are the perfect amount of sweet and salty. You can either use espresso or a good strong coffee brew like I did. Within minutes you will be flying in sweet serendipity.
Amy’s Caramel Latte
- 8 soft chewy caramels (Lancaster caramel cremes)
- 1 tablespoon salted butter
- 1/2 cup half & half
- 1/2 cup 2% milk
- 3/4 cup good strong coffee or a shot of espresso
- cool whip topping
This recipe could not be easier. In a small pot add equal parts half & half and milk. Bring to a rolling boil on medium-low heat. Pour into a glass. To the same pot on low heat add the caramels and about a tablespoon of salted butter. Stir until melted down and smooth. Add to the bottom of your mug. Next pour in the milk and coffee. Gently stir until mostly combined. Add a dollop of whipped cream and some leftover caramel.
Enjoy this savory treat! :0)
