Dry Shampoo Recipe

Did you know you could make your own dry shampoo? Dry shampoo has become increasingly popular. Washing your hair everyday can dry out your beautiful locks especially if you have wavy or curly hair and straighten it, but that has all changed.

Now you can buy a variety of dry shampoo sprays in store OR you can just make your own and have an endless supply for less than half the price. It’s all-natural and with 3 simple ingredients you are on your way to healthy hair.

Dry Shampoo Recipe

  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2-3 teaspoons essential oil

Okay, here is the tip. If you are a brunette you want to tweak your ratio to have more cocoa powder and if you are blonde then you want to have more cornstarch. In a mixing bowl combine with your favorite essential oils. I used lemon and spearmint in mine and yes you will smell a little of the cocoa powder, but who doesn’t love the smell of chocolate. Store in a little mason jar and I used an old blush brush.

1st brush your hair through. Apply the dry shampoo with the brush to your roots. Make sure you get all of your scalp so the shampoo absorbs any oils. Now you might look a little strange with powder all over your hair, but don’t fret. Next you are going to use a blow dryer and shake the shampoo into your scalp and through your hair with your fingers touching your scalp. Once you can no longer see the dry shampoo in your hair you are done. You can add some Argan oil to your ends or any other type of serum/glosser to bring some moisture back into your hair and then hit real quick with a straightening iron.

Here’s to some healthier locks. Enjoy your homemade shampoo!

Love,

Miss Amy
